Job Overview:
The Case Management Associate position is crucial for strengthening the provision and access to comprehensive Protection and Housing, Land and Property (HLP) case management services for returnees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and host communities in South Sudan. The role involves overseeing the implementation of high-quality case management through case workers, which includes critical steps such as case identification, protection risk assessment, case action planning, implementation of the action plan, follow-up and monitoring, case closure, and case transfer.
The Case Management Associate will work closely with the Field Protection Officer and the Program Coordinator, ensuring that case management processes adhere to established guidelines and protocols. This position requires a proactive approach to support case workers in managing complex cases and facilitating referrals to specialized partners and service providers, thereby enhancing the overall effectiveness of the protection response in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Case Management Associate will be responsible for the following duties:Follow standard Protection and HLP case management guidelines, tools, and SOPs in implementing interventions.
Support the maintenance and rollout of case management processes, including service mapping, protocols, and referral pathways.
Assist in inter-agency initiatives such as Protection and HLP risk assessments and service mapping exercises.
Orient case workers and support them in managing complex cases through household visits and providing information about rights and entitlements.
Facilitate referrals to specialized partners and service providers, helping develop case management plans and supporting follow-up.
Organize case file review sessions, case management meetings, and case conferences as needed.
Review case files with case workers and assist in updating relevant information.
Document, store, and process data in line with data protection protocols.
Maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including partner organizations and community leaders. 1
Flag concerns regarding service provision and gaps in Protection and HLP services to the supervisor. 1
Implement monitoring and evaluation tools and prepare regular activity reports to meet reporting requirements.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology, or Development Studies from an accredited institution, along with at least three years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, candidates with a high school diploma must have at least five years of relevant professional experience. The role requires strong report writing and analytical skills, as well as experience in information management systems and databases. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work in challenging environments and possess familiarity with South Sudan’s legal frameworks.
Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology, or Development Studies. Candidates with a high school diploma may be considered if they have significant relevant experience. This educational background is essential to ensure that the Case Management Associate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively support case management services.
Experience:
A minimum of three years of experience in supporting Protection, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Housing, Land and Property (HLP), and/or Mental Health and psychosocial-support Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) humanitarian response programming is required. Experience in case management and individual or group counseling is strongly desirable, as is experience in supporting case workers or contributing to capacity-building in Protection and/or HLP case management. Familiarity with the local context and previous experience in similar roles in South Sudan will be advantageous.
Languages:
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory for all applicants. Additionally, a working knowledge of any of the local languages spoken in South Sudan is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with affected communities and enhance the effectiveness of case management services.
