Job Overview:
The Clinical Activities Coordinator position at IOM South Sudan is a critical role that involves overseeing and implementing emergency health activities in the region. The incumbent will work under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and will receive technical guidance from the Health Coordinator in Juba. The role requires conducting clinical consultations at mobile clinic sites, collecting morbidity data, and ensuring the delivery of quality health care services. The position emphasizes the importance of patient care, confidentiality, and respect for cultural and psychosocial needs. The Clinical Activities Coordinator will also be responsible for promoting the mission and values of IOM, demonstrating flexibility and organization in stressful situations, and maintaining professional relationships within the health department and with other departments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Clinical Activities Coordinator include:Conducting clinical consultations at IOM mobile clinic sites to provide health services to the community.
Collecting and submitting morbidity data from mobile clinics to the supervisor in a timely manner.
Promoting the mission, vision, and values of IOM in all interactions.
Demonstrating knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on patient age and clinical condition.
Performing patient care responsibilities that adhere to the standard of care for various age groups.
Treating patients and their families with respect and dignity, ensuring patient confidentiality at all times.
Identifying and addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.
Interacting professionally with patients and families, involving them in the formation of care plans.
Maintaining good working relationships within the department and with other departments. 1
Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor as needed.
Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Clinical Activities Coordinator position include:A College Diploma in Clinical Medicine, Medical Assistant, or Nursing, along with a valid certificate or equivalent training from a recognized institution.
A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience working in primary health care, preferably in South Sudan.
Experience in applying nationally and internationally accepted health protocols and guidelines.
Basic computer knowledge is essential, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email/internet software.
Strong report writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats.
Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a College Diploma in Clinical Medicine, Medical Assistant, or Nursing. This educational background should be complemented by a valid certificate or equivalent training from a recognized institution, ensuring that the candidate has the necessary foundational knowledge and skills to perform clinical duties effectively.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three (3) years of previous professional experience in primary health care, ideally within a recognized institution in South Sudan. This experience should include familiarity with both national and international health protocols and guidelines, as well as practical experience in delivering health services in challenging environments. Candidates should also demonstrate basic computer skills, which are essential for reporting and data management.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, along with a working knowledge of Arabic, both oral and written. Additionally, having a working knowledge of a local language is considered an advantage, as it can enhance communication with patients and their families.
