Job Overview:
The Midwife position at IOM South Sudan is crucial for delivering emergency health services in a challenging humanitarian context. The incumbent will be responsible for providing clinical care, including conducting patient consultations, antenatal and post-natal care, and skilled deliveries. The role requires rapid deployment to various field locations, necessitating flexibility and readiness to respond to emergencies. The Midwife will work under the supervision of the Chief of Mission and collaborate closely with health coordinators and other health professionals to ensure comprehensive healthcare delivery. This position emphasizes the importance of community engagement, health education, and data collection for health monitoring and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Midwife will undertake a variety of clinical activities, including: conducting patient consultations for early treatment of medical conditions; performing medical evaluations during antenatal and post-natal visits; facilitating skilled deliveries and identifying at-risk mothers for timely referrals; conducting newborn resuscitation; supporting community-trained midwives; maintaining accurate records of consultations and health data; assisting in vaccination campaigns; conducting health education sessions on communicable diseases; managing medical supplies and waste; ensuring confidentiality of medical information; and fostering good relationships with IDP communities and health teams.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Diploma or be a Registered Midwife from an accredited institution, along with a valid practicing certificate. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to ethical standards and professionalism in their work. Good computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, are essential, as well as strong report writing abilities. The role requires a proactive approach to healthcare delivery and community engagement.

Educational Background:
A Diploma or equivalent qualification in Midwifery from an accredited school is required. Candidates must also hold a valid practicing certificate from a recognized institution, ensuring they meet the professional standards necessary for providing healthcare services in South Sudan.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least three years of professional experience in primary health care, preferably within a recognized institution in South Sudan. Experience in applying both nationally and internationally accepted health protocols and guidelines is highly advantageous. Familiarity with the local healthcare context and challenges will be beneficial for effective service delivery.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, along with a working knowledge of Arabic (both oral and written). Knowledge of a local language is considered an advantage, as it facilitates better communication with the communities served.
